Homemade Almond Joys
I don't discriminate when it comes to candy, but I've found some people have very steadfast opinions when it comes to the combination of coconut and chocolate. My friend swears it's a flavor combination that should be reserved for people you really dislike, but I can't get enough of the chewy texture mixed with smooth milk chocolate. We made a slight variation of Anita Chu's recipe featured here, using mesquite smoked almonds, and the end result was a big improvement from the packaged processed version I've enjoyed for years.
